(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Charles DeBay, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Chief Electricians Mate in charge of the electrical department aboard the U.S.S. TAMBOR (SS-198), during the NINTH War Patrol of that Submarine from 5 January 1944 to 5 March 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
