(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade [then Ensign] James Dunphy, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot in Fighting Squadron EIGHTY (VF-80), embarked in U.S.S. HANCOCK (CV-19), over Formosa, on 21 January 1945.
