Coari, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot in Fighting Squadron FOURTEEN (VF-14), embarked in U.S.S. WASP (CV-18), over the Pacific Ocean Area on 20 June 1944.
