(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain [then Commander] Evertt O. Rigsbee, Jr., United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander of Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN (VPB-11&) at Leyte, Philippine Islands, from 10 to 25 December 1944; and as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. ORCA (AVP-49), in the Philippine Islands area from 30 December 1944 to 2 September 1945.
