Crane, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Task Group Commander, FIFTH Fleet Mine Force, Yellow Sea, in waters between East China and the Japan Seas from 1 September 1945 to 4 December 1945.
