Grove, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Leader of a Fighter Plane Group in Fighting Squadron THIRTEEN (VF-13), embarked in U.S.S. FRANKLIN (CV-13), over Luzon Island, Philippine Islands, on 15 October 1944.
