Tyler, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Force Direction Officer on the Staff of Commander Air Support Control Units, in the Mariana Islands, Iwo Jima and Okinawa from June 1944 to April 1945.
