The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Leif G. Suhrland, United States Navy, for gallantry in action as leader of an Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), in a daylight reconnaissance on Saipan on 14 June 1944.
