(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant [then Lieutenant, Junior Grade] Clayton E. Frost, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Diving Officer aboard the U.S.S. SEAL (SS-183), during the ELEVENTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 8 August 1944 to 17 September 1944. Lieutenant Frost assisted his Commanding Officer considerably in conducting aggressive and successful torpedo attacks which resulted in the sinking and damaging of enemy ships totaling over 25,000 tons. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
