Wengierski, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Patrol Plane Commander of a Naval airplane in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED EIGHT (VPB-108), over the Marshall and Gilbert Islands on 24 January 1944.
