(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Albert James Pope, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while serving as a Fighter Pilot in Fighting Squadron THIRTEEN (VF-13), and participating in aerial flight in an Allied bombing attack off Luzon Island on 15 October 1944. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Pope destroyed three enemy airplanes in aerial combat.
