(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Commander [then Lieutenant] Walter J. Yund, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the vicinity of Korea and Honshu on 4 and 24 July 1945. Lieutenant Commander Yund directed an attack which sank an enemy ship.
