(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Electrician’s Mate Lyla A. Weigel, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action in maintaining and supervising the electrical equipment aboard the U.S.S. RASHER (SS-269), during the FOURTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 30 April 1944 to 23 June 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
