    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Paul H. Monroe, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Diving Officer aboard the U.S.S. BARB (SS-220), during war Patrols of that submarine in the East China Sea from 25 October 1943 to 25 January 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
