Dixon, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Fighting Squadron TWENTY-ONE (VF-21), embarked in U.S.S. BELLEAU WOOD (CVL-24) in the vicinity of the Philippine Islands on 25 October 1944.
