Colleran, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Bombing Squadron SEVEN (VB-7), embarked in U.S.S. HANCOCK, during the Battle of Samar on 25 October 1944.
