(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Boatswain’s Mate First Class Frederick H. Muller, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Gun Captain of the after 4-inch 50 caliber gun aboard the U.S.S. JOHN D. FORD (DD-228), at Makassar Strait on 24 January 1942. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
