Jones, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Executive Officer and acting Commanding Officer of Fighting Squadron FIVE (VF-5), embarked in U.S.S. YORKTOWN, over the Pacific war areas during 1943 and 1944.
