(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Paul L. Wheeler, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action as Engineering Officer and Torpedo Data Computer Operator of the U.S.S. SCAMP (SS-277), during the fourth, fifth and sixth war patrols of that submarine in Pacific waters from 2 September 1943 to 6 February 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
