Young, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a PV-1 in Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN (VB-127) in the South Atlantic area on 31 July 1943.
