Peppell, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Cost Inspector in the San Francisco, California, area, TWELFTH Naval District from August 1940 to December 1942; as Supervisory Cost Inspector in the THIRTEENTH Naval District, THIRD Naval District, and FIFTH Naval District, successively, from December 1942 to August 1945.
