Gary, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Special Assistant to the Head of Contract Branch and later as Special Assistant to the Director of Contracts, Bureau of Ships, from March 1941 to October 1945.
