(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Ensign William Caveny Eberle, Jr. (NSN: 0-390963), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot embarked in U.S.S. HANCOCK, over Nansei Shoto, Kyushu, Tokyo, Wake Island, and Hokkaido from 18 March 1945 to 16 July 1945.
