Preil, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Officer-in-Charge of the Aviation Ground Officer Distribution Section, BuAer and CNO, from 8 May 1942 to 15 August 1945.
