Heath, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Gunnery Officer for the commander of an amphibious attack group during assaults on the Gilberts, Marshalls, Marianas, Iwo Jima and Okinawa Gunto, from 1 October 1943 to 11 June 1945.
