Wilson, United States Navy, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight for fifteen strikes against the enemy in the vicinity of Kyushu and Okinawa and twenty destructive strikes against enemy territory in March, April and May 1945.
