(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Ship’s Cook First Class Morris M. Woods, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving aboard APL-18 during the rescue of survivors from the sinking LCT 1052 at Ulithi Atoll anchorage during the typhoon, on the night of 3 – 4 October 1944.
