Hadley (ASN: 35702006), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as a Medical Aidman with the Medical Detachment, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces on 2 February 1945, in Germany. During a fierce engagement with the enemy, Private First Class Hadley was wounded painfully while attending the wounds of a casualty. Disregarding his wounds, he continued to render medical aid to his stricken comrade until he again was wounded. Hearing a call for aid from another soldier he crawled toward the man but found him dead. At this point, Private First Class Hadley again was hit by enemy fire and was taken to a medical station to be treated. Private First Class Hadley’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 9th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
