(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Howard Edward Sires (NSN: 0-84205), United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commanding Officer of a Navy Liberator or Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN, during a reconnaissance patrol over Nansei Shoto on 5 February 1945.
