Gold, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Maintenance Officer on the staff of Commander Service Squadron TEN at advanced anchorages in the Central and Western Pacific from 11 September 1944 to 1 June 1945.
