Wochomurka, United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Section Leader of a Fighter Division embarked in U.S.S. HANCOCK during the Battle for Leyte Gulf in October 1944.
