(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Robert Gufflet, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with 21st Regiment d’Infantry Colonial, 9th Colonial Infantry Division, French Army. in action against enemy forces at Toulon, France, on 24 and 25 August 1944. Lieutenant Colonel Gufflet’s outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
