    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Homer W. Chellew, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving as Plotting Officer aboard the U.S.S. PICUDA (SS-382), during the THIRD War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters of the Pacific Ocean Area from 23 July 1944 to 3 October 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
