(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Motor Machinist’s Mate Second Class James Joseph Shaw, Jr., United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving aboard Motor Torpedo Boat FOUR HUNDRED NINTY-FIVE (PT-495) in the Pacific on 31 July 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
