Dwyer, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a combat aircrewman of a carrier-based dive bomber in Air Group FIFTEEN in the Marianas, Bonin, Caroline and Philippine Islands during World War II.
