(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Homer B. Voorhest, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a carrier-based Fighter Plane in Fighting Squadron FIFTEEN (VF-15), embarked in U.S.S. ESSEX (CV-9), in the Battle for Leyte Gulf, on 25 October 1944.
