Bureau of Naval Personnel Information Bulletin No. 336 (March 1945)

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant William H. Jones, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during World War II. As Pilots of a Patrol Plane in action against an enemy submarine in the Atlantic area, Lieutenant William H. Jones and Lieutenant Richard H. Rowland released four depth charges which exploded close aboard the U-boat on both sides. They contributed materially to the sinking of the enemy vessel.
