Bureau of Naval Personnel Information Bulletin No. 336 (March 1945)

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Chief Gunner’s Mate Ferdinand A. Galli, United States Navy, for gallantry in action while serving aboard a United States Submarine during war patrols in enemy-controlled waters during World War II. As a member of the ship’s company in enemy controlled waters, Chief Galli contributed largely t the expert control of the boat during attack. His excellent vision and alertness as a battle lookout inspired the other men on watch topside and gave all hands a feeling of safety. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
