The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Commander Richard O. Greene, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as commander of a fleet air photographic group during missions in the Caroline and Mariana Islands on 30 April and 27 May 1944. Commander Greene made repeated runs over the area, obtaining excellent photographs of heavily-fortified enemy positions.
