The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Ensign Oliver Mollet, United States Naval Reserve, for heroic conduct in charge of the forward engine room of a destroyer which was rammed during the invasion of Sicily in July 1943. Ensign Mollet skillfully supervised the securing of the engineering plant and instituted damage-control measures. Working for hours in a partially flooded compartment filled with smoke and steam, he refused to leave his station until the flooding was under control.
