The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Second Class Raymond A. Wickham, United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as rear seat gunner in combat against an enemy fleet on 20 June 1944. Aviation Radioman Second Class Wickham assisted in a determined dive-bombing attack on an enemy carrier. Using his radio equipment with great skill, he assisted his pilot in locating their carrier at night when their plane was extremely low on gas.
