The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Ransom A. Teeter, Jr., United States Naval Reserve, for gallantry in action as Commander of the first wave of landing craft attached to the U.S.S. JAMES O’HARA (APA-90) during the invasion of Salerno in September 1943. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Teeter effectively directed the retraction of all craft and supervised the expeditious unloading of cargo in support of our forces. He successfully completed his mission with a minimum of losses. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
