    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Technical Sergeant Harry Vincent Glades (ASN: 17160392), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as Gunner on a B-26 Medium Bomber in the 451st Bombardment Squadron, 322d Bombardment Group (M), NINTH Air Force, while participating in a bombing mission on 3 October 1944, against enemy targets in the European Theater of Operations. During the mission, Technical Sergeant Glades’ B-26 Marauder was severely damaged and the pilot had to make a crash-landing at the A-71 Field in Belgium. Despite serious injuries, Technical Sergeant Glades manned his gun throughout the mission. The personal courage and zealous devotion to duty displayed by Technical Sergeant Glades on this occasion have upheld the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 9th Air Force, and the United States Army Air Forces.
