The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Fireman First Class Allan Dutch, United States Naval Reserve, for heroic conduct when his vessel suffered a damaging underwater explosion in the Aleutian Islands area during World War II. Fireman First Class Dutch voluntarily jumped into the cold and oil-covered sea to rescue comrades blown overboard by the explosion.
