The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain Aaron P. Storrs, III, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Acting Chief of Staff to the Commander Alaskan Sector from August 1942 to October 1943. Captain Storrs assisted in planning and organizing expeditionary groups and projected shore facilities. Despite extremely adverse weather he directed the task of landing personnel on Attu for the construction of important installations.
