(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Lieutenant Colonel Pierre Louis Gauvin, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with 6th Regiment of Colonial Infantry, 9th Colonial Infantry Division, French Army, in action against enemy forces in France, from 20 to 25 August 1944. Lieutenant Colonel Gauvin’s outstanding accomplishments, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the Allied Nations.
