(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Ensign Norman S. Smith (NSN: 0-390383), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Co-Pilot in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SIX (VPB-106), over the Ryukyus, Bandjermasin, Borneo, Honshu and Shikoku coast, Japan, from 15 April to 14 May 1945.
