The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant Niles R. Siebert (NSN: 0-104871), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while acting as flight leader during a strike against a Japanese airfield in the vicinity of the Mariana Islands on 24 June 1944. Lieutenant Siebert flew in boldly in the face of intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire to bomb assigned targets. He fiercely pressed home his attacks, destroying a runway and numerous installations.
