    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Second Class Kenneth Richard Platte (NSN: 6648845), United States Navy, for heroism extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as aircrewman of a bomber plane in Patrol Bombing Squadron 101, in action against enemy Japanese forces in the vicinity of Morotai, Palau, and the Philippine Islands from 7 to 19 November 1944. Participating in five long-range armed reconnaissance missions during this period, to complete 35 strikes against the enemy, Aviation Radioman Second Class Platte rendered valuable assistance to his commanding officer in the completion of such assignment and in the infliction of damage on enemy shipping and ground installations. His courage, skill, and devotion to duty throughout were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Military Service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
