(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Aviation Radioman Third Class Leonard Pickens (NSN: 6154911), United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as aircrewman of a scout bomber embarked in U.S.S. FRANKLIN, over Bonin, Marianas, Caroline, Nansei, Formosa and Philippine Islands areas from 4 July 1944 and culminating in the Battle for Leyte Gulf, 24 October 1944.
